The Yarra River is a unique and precious natural resource in the heart of Melbourne, and it is under threat from development on its banks. The largest of these proposed developments is Honeywell in Abbotsford, where developers plan to build over 580 apartments in 3 high-rise towers of up to 11 stories. The YRAA has lodged an appeal at VCAT against Yarra Council’s decision to approve the development. We now need your support to help further fund the appeal. Please Donate Here »
The Yarra River Action Alliance (YRAA) is a group of people who care about the Yarra River and environmental impacts on its surroundings.
Its members include local residents who live on or near the Yarra in inner Melbourne, people who use the river and the Main Yarra Trail bike path for recreation, and concerned citizens from all over Melbourne who are concerned about protecting the Yarra and its heritage. The Yarra River is recognised as one of Melbourne’s greatest recreation and landscape assets. It is the lynchpin of Melbourne’s green wedge open space corridor that flows close to the city centre.
